negotiating affordable house price

hi all was just wandering is it possible to negotiate prices of affordable homes with cork city council, looking at a house at the moment but the affordable price is the same as market value of similar homes in the area. i know the obvious solution is to buy privatley but because of large deposit required affordable is my only option at this moment in time plus i really like the house. any advice greaty appreciated.

Well unless they do reduce the AH price theyre obviously not going to be able to sell them . When I was buying my home the banks' valuation of the property was slightly less than what the Council had it valued at . I said it to the Co Council and they said a few people had pointed this out and that they were re-valuing the properties. The price then dropped significantly .

So try calling them and point out that your not willing to pay those prices when they are so similiar to open market prices , never know your luck !
