Hello all,
I am on verge of moving to US, probably permanently.
Here in Ireland I have the following retirement provision:
1. 12 years service in a defined benefit scheme. I will be leaving service of this employer so plan to opt for a deferred benefit.
2. Approx €100k in AVC's. I plan to leave this in the AVC fund and it will hopefully grow over time.
If anyone could help me with the following I would appreciate:
1. Do i need to take any action to protect the value of these funds - e.g transfer them to another scheme etc?
2. Is it safe to assume that these will be of some use to me when i retire and that they wont be valueless due to tax treatment or some other issues with cross border transfers etc.
Any advice would be appreciated.
