Moving to the UK - Access to Credit

I am about to move to the UK. One of the things concerning me is that it appears I'll be starting from scratch in terms of credit history, and presumably I may struggle to obtain a UK credit card because of it.

Is there any way I can leverage my Irish credit history (which is impeccable) to make it easier to access credit in the UK?

I have had an AIB Mastercard (current limit €10,000) for 7 or 8 years, it seems crazy that if I cross a border and want to obtain another Mastercard that counts for nothing.

UK suffers big time from "computer says no", don't think there is any way of leveraging an irish credit rating.

You'll just have to play the game. First and foremost get on the electoral register. Then your best bet is to apply for a credit card from a provider who offers them to people with bad credit. Use that card and it's small limit and pay off regularly to build your credit. It'll take a while but eventually you'll get a credit record and get a normal card.
