Moving a light switch

Hi all,went about moving a light switch and light fitting in the garage when i noticed that there was no earth wire in the set-up.Could this be dangerous?The switch and backing box are made of plastic if this makes a difference.Was thinking of putting up a fluorescent light instead,thanks for any info.

well its not overly dangerous but you can always put a metal box and an earth in place if you wish
