I have No Bias towards Cork
The Question is ... Where will your Husband be Based to work? That should influence your choice of living location. The North side /South side of the city is better comments would be similar to Dubin comments.
Glanmire if fine, but bear in mind it is a commuter suburb. Towns within reasonable commuting time to the City are Ballincollig (almost joined to City) Mallow, Midleton (A town I very much like despite being from the city and now I am living again closer to the city).
Douglas & Rochestown are popular areas to live in for "Professional" types as you may see on Daft.ie Houses advertised as "Would Suit Professionals"
Budget would also be a factor. I see on Daft that houses in Rochestown which peaked at €480k last Spring now being sold at €360k for 3 bed semi’s.
Better Areas should be easier to Sell when/ if you decide to leave Cork. You can Pick up 3 bed semi’s in Mallow for €250k which peaked at €300k, but there has been a lot of new developments in Mallow, A lot still empty, So when you decide to sell there would be a lot of competing properties for buyers to choose from.
