Mortgage extension after ilness

Hi,just want to ask a quick question for a relative. He had a heart attack at 44 last year,fine now and back to work thank god. His job has a decent income and wife is stay at home. Recently hes been considering trading up and moving closer to job and family but would need about 50grand more on his mortgage. There not in negative equity and mortgage now is about 130 grand. Before he gets the ball rolling he was wondering if hed even be considered for the extra loan based on his heart attack? Gratefull if anyone had any info or help on this,thks
 
I don't know, and he won't know until he applies.

He probably won't be able to get mortgage protection for the extra €50k, which could be a problem for the lender.

The best thing is to apply and see what happens.

Ye thats what I thought myself Brendan thks. The irony is hes probably healthier than ever now with his new regime! I think hes worried the commute will burn him out over time and would like his family to be closer to relatives. Il relay your advice,thks again
