Merchant Credit Card Charges & supplementary fees

We use Elavon for our merchant billing account. We incur an additional fee for processing business cards of 1%. We would prefer not to take business cards but cannot identify all cards as often they will have not have a company name on them. It seems there is no way for us to identify when we will incur this penalty charge & just wondering if anyone knows any way around this?

We have exactly the same issue and aib told us there is no way to differentiate between business and consumer cards.

I don't believe them as they must have a way of differentiating to be able to apply the higher charge to the business cards.

We have had to increase rates across the board for all cards to cover this.

I had also asked Elavon if we could have a report made available which would allow us to identify the transactions involved as we have a lot of repeat customers and could maybe control it to some degree if we could access this information. I have been told this is not available.
