Its your current income. If you are single, its your weekly income, less the medical card allowance amount, less any mortgage repayment, travel expenses to work, childcare costs. Check out the guidelines on the hse site. You may get a GP card if not a medical card. I would think that 200euro income per week would get you a medical card. If you have spouse/partner their earnings will be taken into consideration but the allowance is higher!
