Manchester - Things to do

Hi there,
Am heading over to Manchester this weekend (well Thursday night to Saturday night to avail ofcheap fares!). Anyone have any suggesstions for things like pubs, clubs, resteraunts. Girlfriend also wants ideas on Spas located in the City Centre for some pampering. Have heard there are Christmas markets over there too. Has anyone visited these? Are they worth it!

There is a small christmas market in St Annes Square which is between Deansgate and the Arndale Centre.
For going out there is The Printworks, selection of bars & restaurants. There is also the Gay village on and around Canal Street-good fun for a night out. There is also Castlefields which is a bit of walk right out of the centre- at the end of Deansgate. Also there is the Northern Quarter which is student/trendy area this is up towards Picadilly Gardens and turn off to the left after Debenhams. If you want to do some footballer spotting there is the Living Room on Deansgate.
As for spas, there is one in the House of Fraser on Deansgate and also there should be one in Selfridges, behind Marks & Sparks and also maybe one in Harvey Nichols opposite Selfridges.
