Fair play to de lads down in CIE for keeping us all amused with the unbelievably far fetched sequnce of events outlined in the collapsed Malahide viaduct report.

[broken link removed]

With all the bad news it's good to see some people haven't lost their sense of humour. Presumably this is a wind up and the real report will appear as soon as silly season ends.

Lol.

CIE didn't write that report.
And either did Irish Rail.

Railway Safety Commission is an independent body

I was making reference to the systemic incompetence and willfull negligence outlined in the report.

Many aspects were so surreal you couldn't make them up. No one individual could really be blamed, and are genuinely blameless, simply the institutional incompetence was such that they have been reduced to what amounted to busy work.

This valuable asset just crumbled away. CIE just watched on, seemingly incapable of action.

There's always talk of extending and improving rail lines. The Western Rail route, Navan line. This is not an institution that should have more reponsibility or jurisdiction - for thir own good as much as ours.
