Lodging FX cheques to your account...

I lodged a cheque to my PTSB account today for £801 stg. The lady gave me the rate as 0.8786 which equated to €911.93, which was fine.

However, I noticed on the FX daily rate chart on the wall, the different rates between the "We Buy Cash" and "We Buy Cheque" sections.

The rate I was given was the "Cash" rate (0.8786), but should it have been the "Cheque" rate I was given which was 0.786 and equates to €1,019.36.

Is this correct or have I got this completely wrong? Or have my bank screwed me out of over €100?

Cheers for any advice...

Not too sure but I'm surprised they gave you todays rate rather than applying whatever rate is current when the cheque clears in a couple of days time.

Its probably a good rule of thumb to assume the Bank screwed you over.

It sounds like an error was made. I would contact the bank and point out that you got the note rate, instead of the cheque rate.

No way a bank rate for Sterling would be .786, would this be a typo?
