lodge someone elses cheque

sold my car yesterday to a relative he gave me a third party cheque. Its signed by him on the back can i lodge it to my own bank account without major hassle

I always use AIB's Speed Lodgement to lodge them and never any questions asked

Yes, once he has endorsed the cheque and it is not crossed "account payee only".

2 months ago TSB refused a third party cheque into my account that I had cashed for my daughter, she signed the back and it was not crossed. I had to give it back to her, she then went to the local filling station and they cashed it no problem.
