Just discovered the outside tap was left on with garden hose attached for possibly over a week, big blunder, no lectures please.
What happens to the build up of water in the hose? Where does it go. Would it have anything to do with toilet back up?
Thanks in advance

Huh? when you say the hose was left on was the water pouring out of it into the garden? If so then no big deal - n sure what you mean by the build up of water in the hose? Explain.

If the hose was turned off at the far end there should be no problem, maybe a tiny leak under pressure and if the hose was allowing the water to flow then the only problem would the waste of water and what happened all the water, if it was spraying into the garden it might have washed the earth away from the roots of plants.

With regards to the toilet blocking up my guess it's another matter altogether.

If your tap was on but the hose was off (no water coming through) the water wouldn't go anywhere, the end of the hose being off acts in much the same way as a turned off tap. Only thing that might happen is the pressure could cause the hose to spring a leak.

Under those circumstances, it wouldn't have anything to do with your backed up toilet.

Thanks for advice. Checked the manhole pipes blocked even though got tank emptied and pipes cleaned couple of months back. Did my best to clear it, ended up using cillit bang, even though its probably the wrong thing to use with a bio septic tank.
