I was thing of creating a covered area over some of the side passage between my house and the shared boundary wall. The passage is 1500mm wide and I would be proposing to cover in about 6m of it. The boundary wall is 2100mm high so I was thinking of fitting a wall plate onto the house and some posts off the inside of the boundary wall. I was then going to fit some wooden rafters and then fit some clear sheeting onto the rafters.
My questions is, do i need to get permission or is there any legal reaon I cannot fit this? From the front of the house my side gate is 2100mm high but the wall plate and rafters will be mounted higher to allow me get the angle correct for the sheeting. This structure will obviously be visible from the road.
Has anybody fitted something similar or can you offer any advice ?
