Laptop Switches Off When I Put Anything Into USB Socket

Each time I put a USB or camera Cable into my laptop, it swiches off, and erases pics off my camera. any ideas why this might happen? also, is there anyway to recover the pics i lost?
 
no its just with the usb port. it just seems to happen when i plug in the camera to it to download pics etc??
 
you need to get the laptop in for repair. you are shorting out your motherboard. keep this up and you could do more permanent damage.

Do you have 1, 2 or 3 USB ports? are they all problematic? avoid using the bad one if you have multiple USB ports. if you only have one, then stop using it until you can get it repaired.
