Hello,

Just wondering whether a person can state in their will that they do not wish their land to be sold to a specific named individual or their relatives ?

There was very bad blood between two neighbours and one has died suddenly and his farm has been put up for sale.

One would hope that with the death of one, it would be the end of the feud.

Where would one draw the line on relatives, son/niece/9th cousin.

Such a clause would be totally unenforceable. What's to stop a solicitor or other person buying it in trust for Mr X, Mrs X or X junior?

I assume the same goes for someone saying in their will that they want the land to be sold to Mr X only

Why on earth would someone do that? The things people come up with. If they only want it sold to X, sell it to X before they die.

Do you not see even a teeny weanny problem with such a clause in a will?
