Kitchen Extractor Hood - How to Clean ?

Anyone advise if there is any special technique/solution to cleaning a greased up extractor hood.
 
What about the areas that you can't get water into, in my case the motor/fan has a load of built up grease ? Short of taking it apart, is there anyway of degreasing it (i'm not an engineer, so don't fancy my chances of taking it apart and succesfully rebuilding it )
 
you can get engine degreaser in a car motor factors but it usually needs to be rinsed off u may be able to use a damp cloth make sure power is off first
 
Disconnect the power supply and then wipe all the bits you can with a sponge dipped in warm white vinegar - brilliant for degreasing just about anything. The vinegar smell will disappear in a couple of hours.
