Harry Kewell is probably the worst player ever to play in a euro cup final, but Lauren must run him close as the worst player to win an fa cup medal. He was brutal today. and as a leeds fan I was quietly cheering on bloody This post will be deleted if not edited to remove bad language.

Given that Liverpool have no major injury worries for tomorrow I imagine it is highly unlikely Harry Kewell will start, midfield is likely to be Riise, Hamann, Alonso, Gerrard and Garcia (with Gerrard or Garcia supporting a front man). That said I could be completely wrong and/or he may come on during the game!!

After tonight there is no doubt about it. Kewell is the worst player ever to win a european champions medal

Traore and Dudek must run him a close second so! Admittedly Traore did clear off the line and Dudek did fluke a few saves during play and in the shootout but dear me, ropey or what...? Entertaining enough game. Not brilliant but plenty of incident. As for the ITV commentary, well, the less said the better ... Fair play to Liverpool - coming back from three down was some feat. As a neutral it was a pity it had to be settled on penalties. Not the most amazing comeback I've ever witnessed though! :)

Kewell is a disgrace, but I have to agree with Clubman that he is probably not the worst player, Traore sometimes looks like he doesn't actually even understand the rules of the game!!

Was Traore the guy that played for Zaire in the 1970 world cup match against Brazil?

Ah come on CM, it was the Europeen cup final.Unbelivable stuff.
What a night, what a comeback, What a result.
I said earlier this year our name was on the cup and it was.
We knocked out Juve(Italian champions this year), Chelski(English Champions this year) Milan Fav. for cup all season and outgoing champions of Italy.
The play of JC and XA in the second half was unbelivable.
XA pinging the ball around, JC defending like a team on his own, LG floating in the gap between the midfield and attack, SG scoring one, geting brought down for 3rd., DH snuffing out their midfield, MB runing all night puting their ageing defense under pressure, VS scoreing a goal in his last match for Liverpool, what a goal I could go on and on. Hero's one and all.
I broke a chair last night when I lept up as the second goal went in, I went up, chair went down.
What a night, What pride, what a comeback.

You'll Never Walk Alone

When you walk through a storm

hold your head up high

And don't be afraid of the dark.

At the end of a storm is a golden sky

And the sweet silver song of a lark.

Walk on through the wind,

Walk on through the rain,

Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.

Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart

And you'll never walk alone,

You'll never, ever walk alone.

Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart

And you'll never walk alone,

You'll never, ever walk alone.

Great comeback. Lots of incident. But not great football from either side overall. Any neutral or objective observer could see that.

I didn't realise that you were from Liverpool? Do you get back there for games much?

Did the Turkish stewards reprimand you over this?

There was some great football by both sides in the game. AC in the first half and Liverpool in the second. XA for example in the 2nd half played superb football, pinging around the ball will brilliant accuracy and power.

Cm I have supported Liverpool since I was a small lad, throught good times and bad(last few years, under GS etc) I have been a member of the Liverpool supporters club for many years. Yes I feel that I can say WE when I refer to LFC and am proud to do so.

No but the wife did.

I assumed when you said "we" and "us" that you were a Scouser. By the way, out of curiosity, do you mean "have supported" or "have been a fan of"? There is a big difference in my view. But each to their own and people are free to claim allegiances to whatever they like I suppose. I used to be a fan of Liverpool because they were one of the more successful clubs when I was a chisler but I soon grew out of that and started supporting a club with whom I had a real allegiance and involvement.

No Just in my heart.

Both actually. I have a real allegiance to LFC. I have been a fan and supporter of the club since I was knee high to a jack rabbit. I have gone over to the matches, purchased the kit, paid my membership of the official supporters club etc etc. You happen to live close to LOI club, I don't.
I am proud to support LFC, have taken a load of stick from the manure fans over the past few years, but who is laughing now.

Re: Liverpool's win

Jem,

Congrats on your team's win.

"pity it had to be settled on penalties"

This is the one thing that I totally object to with football and sudden death is even worse. I'm not a supporter at all but have been a football widow for too many years! - first Shamrock Rovers, then Pat's and, of course, Arsenal.
Surely somebody can come up with a better system rather than putting the poor guys thru the mill of penalties or sudden death?

It is tough, but there has to be some way to finish. and we have a habbit of winning them, having beaten Real Madrid before in paris.

This new Pope guy is sheer bad luck.

First Linfield beat Shelbourne
Then Celtic have the SPL stolen from them at the very last minute of the season
But worst of all Milan are lulled into thinking they have the scumbags of Liverpool on the ropes only to be cheated by the most unlikely and underserved of comebacks

I noticed a few combined Liverpool/Rangers scarves in the crowd on Wednesday night. Does that hark back to the days when Liverpool were supposedly the "Protestant" club on Merseyside while Everton were supposedly the "Catholic" side or something? Just wondering - religious allegiances mean nothing to me in football or real life. Linfield fully deserved their victory over Shels. Two busloads of Linfield supporters including Billy Hutchinson of the PUP were in the bars in Dalymount before and after the game and had a great time socialising down there by all accounts (wasn't there myself). Oh, and Celtic weren't robbed - they threw it away.

There was also a load of Liverpool& Celtic scarves there too. with regard to the religious thing, Liverpool were very much an Irish club for a long time. And very Catholic.
BYTW Liverpool AFAIK have never won a major trophy without at lease one Irishman in the team, continued this week with Steve Finnan.
Re Celtc : I agree they threw it away.

Short lesson on theology.

Celtic is Glasgow RC whilst Rangers is Prod
Hibernian/Hearts for Edinburgh
Everton/Liverpool for Liverpool
United/City for Manchester

Which reminds this pope guy must have also put the blink on ManU.

Thanks. I must print that out and bring it with me if I ever decide to attend another Ireland game in Lansdowne Road so that I know who to booh. ;)
