Jammed Dishwasher - Suggestions OR Repair Man

Have a 11 year old Ariston integrated dishwasher. Has been working fine.
It's now jammed when I try & open it. Seems like a mechanical failure with catch & not sure how to open it without pulling it open & breaking the catch. Anyone got experience(s) of this?

Also, anyone got a sugestion of a reasonable ''handyman" in Dublin City Center who could maybe service this?

Do you think I would be better off replacing the machine rather than fork out say 100 Euro to a handyman who breaks it & then have to replace it anyway given the brand & age of the machine?

If it's been in daily use for 11 years, that's not a bad 'lifespan' and I wouldn't be inclined to spend more money on it. Any chance of slipping the blade of a knife (carefully!) into the crack between the door handle and the top of the machine? You might be able to depress the catch and release it. However, if the locking mechanism is knackered (as opposed to just needing a cleaning and a spot of oil) you'll be back to square one the next time you close it...! :(
