Is the Widows Pension a Social Welfare payment?

Is the Widows pension a social welfare payment? I am currently filling out an application for a medical card and the following information is noted on citizensinformation.ie

According to the HSE's guidelines, if your income is derived solely from Social Welfare allowances or benefits or HSE allowances you should be granted a medical card even though your payment is in excess of the Income Guidelines for your age and situation.

You mean one of these SW/DSP payments or something else such as a "widow(er)'s" payment from a private pension?

Thanks Clubman, yes, it's the Widow's Contributory Pension that I was referring to, and given that the info is listed under Social Welfare -> Social Welfare Payments -> Death Related Benefits, it's clear to me that it is a Social Welfare Payment!

If your only income is from the Widow's Contributory Pension then you should qualify for a medical card.
