I am heading to B&Q tomorrow to buy new insulation/ fibre glass for the attic. (took out all the old stuff).

Any tips on what type to buy? (I hope they sell it there).
I think by law I must have at least 300mm thick but is fibre glass the same across all brands etc?

Thanks

Re: Insullation

what you need to look out for is the 'thermal conductivity' value... sometimes labelled as 'K' value.

mineral quilt usually has a TC value about 0.04
rockwool can go lower to about 0.38

the lower the thermal conductivity value the better.

as for what thickness you require.... aim for 300mm anyway...

I was just on the B&Q website and they have a few different products:

(1) Jablite Flooring Insulation Polyboard White
(2) Knauf Combi Cut Loft Insulation
(3) Knauf Space Blanket Loft Insulation
(4) Knauf Space Board Loft Board Insulation
(5) Jablite Universal Board White[broken link removed]
(6) Jabsqueeze Loft Insultation Packl White (4 Boards)
(7) Kingspan Themaboard Roof Insulation[broken link removed]

I am a bit confused as to which one is best? Any help appreciated?

Lookin for advice re insulating the cavity in the walls of a new house.
We are in the house 2 years now, it is 2 storey, the walls are insulated on the inside but there is no insulation in the cavity. I'm told that the cavity is 2 inches.
Which type of insulation is better, bonded bead or rockwool?

I have heard mention of warmfill and certainfill, which is better ?

What about attic insualtion , is it better to have rockwool blown in to the attic or would the rolls of insulation be a better job?
Thanks

Syd in a new cavity build would you go for insulation installed by block layers such as kingspan or pump the walls after construction with bead's?
