Inherited a pub, how to keep licence.

I have inherited a small share of a pub in a very rural part of Ireland.

It has still not been transferred as the paper trail is a bit complex.

The pub was opened annually by its deceased owner for 1 night in order to keep the licence operational. It needs to open again by December.

Do we need to notify someone ( such as the Gardai) that we will open it to keep the licence active, or do we just record ourselves when it was open in case someone comes asking about the validity of the licence?

It is important that we do not let the licence expire.

Thanks.

Licence transfers ( which will have to be done anyway ) are done through solicitors and the courts. All licences expire 30 September. I'd contact a solicitor immediately to see what needs be done.

First of all the licence needs to be transferred from the old owners to the new owners (including OP) which has to be done before a District Court. Then the licence needs to be renewed at the annual licensing court in September. If the premises is being leased, then you will have to undergo a temporary transfer of the licence, this also has to be done in the District Court.
