Hi all,
Moved to UK Nov 2010 and have been here since apart from a few weekends. Hoping to spend Aug at home and possibly working. If so as I am tax resident in uk do I pay tax in Ireland first and then declare the income in uk(self employed) and claim a credit in UK for any tax paid. I also have some rental income and need to pay tax on that. Which jusistiction gets the tax due on it? If irish do the UK need to know about it?
Thanking as always in advance.

This could be a complex question as you have not provided the full information needed to answer.

Where does the rental income arise? Ireland?
If so you are taxable in Ireland on this Irish sourced income, and possibly taxable in the UK depending on whether you are taxable on the remittance or arising basis there. This will depend on your domicile, and your choice of this option.

Are you self-employed in the UK? Is the income you will be earning in Ireland part of this self-employment? Depending on the answer to this, it may or may not be taxable in Ireland under the double tax treaty.

You should get professional advice on this.
