Importing Campervan

We are hoping to import a Campervan from Germany.
Has anybody experience?
How is VRT Calculated?

I think if it's OVER a certain length VRT is very low.

If the unladen weight is over 3.5 tonne,yhe vrt is €50 i think.But below that weight the system is like cars ie a % of open market value.I think there is an article on boards.ie about this subject

When I brought in mine in 2007 it was liable for 13.3 % VRT on OMSP. As previous poster said if the unladen weight was over 3.5 tonne then it would be €50 to import but I would verify this with revenue with all the recent changes to taxes before importing.

Also bear in mind that a 3.5 tonne unladen is a big camper. Mine is 5 berth Hobby AK620, (average sized camper, 6.2 m long ) and it weighed 2560 KG. Good luck and happy camping.
