imported sanitryware fittings

I am seriously considering buying sanityware for new build in UK or Germany but I have been told that the fittings are different to those used in Ireland. Does anybody know if this is true and if so would the advice be to buy in Ireland. I am puzzled as most of the products are manufactured abroad anyway.
 
I bought my taps & shower fittings from Germany, I got grohe catalogue here and just ordered the same part numbers from Germany.

All worked out fine for me
 
I got the lot in Germany from a place near Dusseldorf. Only prob was the sink wastes for which the pipes were slightly different diameter, so I had to get those locally. Everything else was spot on and I saved a lot of money.

Did u get these delivered over to Ireland or did u go and collect them yourself?

Am at point of starting to order this stuff for my new build so would be interested in your feedback and recommendations...
