Hi,

I am currently working as an independent IT consultant and have been working in the same company for the last 2 years
Due to the big R the company which employs me is looking to reduce costs and use fewer Consultants.
As a result they are interviewing for a perm job (my current role) in the company, and I have been asked to apply.
Which is good as the contracting market is very quite at the moment.

I'm just wondering if anyone has been in a similar position before, i'm really unsure what to expect.
It may go quite well and I might have it in the bag. Or it may be very tough as I expect there to be a few good appliciants for the job.

Any thoughts/advice?

You don't have it in the bag, not in the current environment. Prepare some great, specific examples of how you meet the competencies detailed in the job spec.

It would help to draw on the benefits you would bring to the job relative to someone starting afresh. i.e. track record; direct experience; knowledge of the job and requirements; existing working relationships; continuity of service/output if appointed, etc,
