how to remove vw passat 1998 spark plug leads off spark plug

Hi,
I would like to know if any knows how to remove the spark plug leads off the plugs on a 1998 vw passat, as there is a sliver metal surrond on them. Also where is a fuel filter located.

All responses will be appreciated.

the plug leads pulls straight out they can be difficult at times so take care not to damage lead

The clue might be in the "Spark plug leads"!!!
