Mods Note: Split from here.

I am a public servant and am taking early retirement. I will get my public service pension for the years that I have served. I am early fifties . If I take up employment and pay A rate prsi , how many contributions will I need to entitle me to contributory pension at 65 ?

Re: Public Sector Pension - how much is it really worth?

Details of entitlement for State Pension (Contributory & Transition) can be accessed here on the Department of Social and Family Affairs website.

Three conditions to get an OACP:

1) Start paying PRSI by age 55
2) Have paid 260 weeks
3) Have an average of at least 10 weeks per year from when you started paying PRSI to age 66.

The 260 week contribution requirement changes to 520 weeks (i.e. 10 years) for persons reaching age 66 after 5th April 2012.
