Hotels in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and Costa Rica

Hey All,

Just wondering if anyone has any hotel recommendations for hotels in the countries listed above? We will be there from 17th July until 16 August starting in Mex and in the order listed above!

I wouldnt stay in Cancun full of infurating Americans., Playa del carmen was great, there are plenty of little bungalows to stay in. In Guatemala there are also little hotels everywhere, depending on where you are going- I wouldn't stop in Guatemala city but head for Antigua and Lago Atitlan-look in Lonely planet for some good recommendations for Accomodation. Belize is pricey and & again a lot of Americans, head for beach and dont spend too much time in Belize city.
 
Wouldn't recommend Costa Rica. Doesn't live up to expectations. The guide books tell you that it is full of exotic plants / birds and wild life and you get the impression that it will be everywhere - practically living in your hotel grounds. Not the case - didn't see anything remotely interesting. Weather can also be a bit unpredictable too.
