Health levy on deposit interest received

I'm a paye worker and have just received back my notice of assessment for 2008 and see that a deduction of 2% has been applied against my taxed interest earned, is this correct ?

Where your total income exceeds the threshold for the Health Levy then it will be applied on the Notice of Assessment to items such as interest, net rents etc.

Yes it is correct HC will apply. Where you may be getting confused is the income levy will not apply to taxed interest but HC will.
