Hi we are currently renewing our insurance and for a couple of years haven't really looked into it to much. Would like some feedback on the current policy and any other options.
Laya have suggested the following

Wife 36years, healthy non smoker flex 125 choice €1487.70
Husband 39 years, healthy non smoker essential assist €582.08
Chid 7years, healthy. Promises to be a non smoker !!!! €373.55

Are these a good option. I attend the doctor at the most once a year. Our child would be there 2/3 times a year

Any suggestions would be grateful

Also is there any benefit to getting a corporate plan. We are self employed.

Thanks

Dinny

Hi Dinny,

The above suggestions by Laya are not great, there's better options available, including corporate.
Just a quick question, what plan are you all on at the moment?

Snowby.

Thanks for the getting back to me and sorry for the late reply but I had to contact Laya for our current plans
My wife and daughter are currently on Health Manager starter and I am on Essential starter.

Thanks for any feed back

Better options with Laya as follows;

Wife; Total Health Complete 175; Adult price 1075pa; good hospital cover(public,private + hi-tech cover) good outpatient cover.
Daughter; Total Health Complete 175; child price 318pa; good hospital cover(3 levels included) good outpatient cover.

Also, cheaper option for Wife if you don't mind a higher hospital excess 250 per admission or day case.
Flex 250 Plus; 846 per adult; good hospital cover including public (private + hi-tech with 250 excess) good outpatient cover.

Husband; Flex 500 Explore; adult price 630pa; good hospital cover( 3 levels included; public, (private + hi-tech with 500 excess per admission or day case).
or
Advantage 500 Explore; adult price 559pa; public, (selected private + some hi-tech hospital cover with 500 excess per admission or
day case).

Either of these 2 plans are better options than Essential Assist as they have extra hospital cover both private and hi-tech cover included.
Essential Assist just has public hospital cover which means that if you need surgery, you would be on the same list as all public patients.
There would be no advantage in having health insurance re surgery waiting times on that plan. Comparison as follows;

Hi Dinny,

The plan they are on at the moment while a good plan, is very over-priced.
There are a few alternatives with similar cover at much better prices - prices in brackets apply if they pay monthly or quarterly.

Day case 50. Good day to day cover gp, consultant etc 50% refund. Note; day to day cover is restricted to a maximum refund of 300 total per person per annum.

2. Laya Simply Connect Plus; price 1099(1130)pa, same hospital cover as before, private hospital excess 150 payable on only 1 private admission per year, any extra private admissions are free, day case 50, good day to day cover gp, etc 50% refund. Note; day to day cover is restricted to a max refundof 500 total per person per year.

3. Laya Total Health Plus; price reduced from 1 Dec 2015, 1200(1236)pa, same hospital cover as before, private hospital excess 100 payable for every private admission, day case 100, good day to day cover as before, no restriction applies on day to day cover (limit 7650 per person pa.)
