Hanging a hammock

Hello all,

Can anyone give me some advice about hanging a hammock seat. I want to hang it on my balcony and the logical place to hang it from is from the ceiling of the balcony above me. It's an old enough building so I'm guessing the balcony have pure concrete floors.

The hammock has a single loop to hang from, but should I install a number of hooks to spread the weight? I'm thinking of three or four hooks and attaching a chain to the loop of the hammock with a carabinar.

Any advice on which type of hooks to use and any suggested pitfalls?

Thanks!

Is this an apartment/ duplex style development? If so, you will not be allowed do this.

Hi Leo,

Thanks for your reply.

It's for an apartment in Spain and the management is pretty up right alright.

Good point.

Thanks.

No problem Killian.

As soon as a management company become aware of something like this they'd be down on you straight away. You don't own the structure of the building, so from that point of view they wouldn't be happy. But more importantly, there's a chance you could weaken the structure of the balcony drilling holes in it.

You can get hammocks that come with a support stand, so no alteration of the building structure would be required.
