Good Restaurant in Cork City

Market Lane is a very good spot.
Cornmarket is supposed to very good (havent been yet) - it's on Coal Quay.

Annie's Gastropub is not in the centre but is probably the best food in Cork (IMO) at the moment.

Re: the Boardwalk - Neil Predeville is involved! That puts me off anyway!

Star Anise - As said
Market Lane - Great spot & nice atmosphere
Il Padrineoes (SP?) - Great Italian, nice atmosphere & price
Hardwoods - Great restaurant, lovely food & fair price. I have French clients who are very choosey and this is the only restaurant they like in Cork

Where is the Gastropub ?

I know what you mean about Prendeville ;) however the food is quite good. Service is sloooow though.

Hardwood on Popes Quay is doing a superb "recession special" during the week at the moment. It is a menu for €20 with a limited (but good) choice. The other night I had a big bowl of chowder, a rib eye steak, a scoop of gingerbread ice cream, a glass of Sauvignon and a coffee - all for €20. Excellent value.
However, their brunch prices are still a bit saucy...
