Good family destinations in Dublin

Does anyone have any recommendations for interesting destinations and activities in Dublin for a family with a 7 year old boy over Christmas?

I've been looking at FamilyFun again and I found some interesting items:

-has anyone been to the urban farm in Dundrum? The idea sounds great but the description makes it seem like a garden centre.

-are there any other places like Powerscourt House near Dubin? I found Avondale but that's all I see.

The urban farm in Dundrum ( Airfield) is a great venue.
Its a real urban farm, with plenty of space for a walk and lots of animals to see. I dont know what description you heard, but they have a small garden shpp, but there is a lot more to it than that.

The Phoenix Park has a good playground (at the NCR entrance) and plenty of places for a walk, with a chance of seeing the deer.
