hi,

I just wondering under the freedom of information Act, is it possible that i could get a copy of all information about me and my case from my solicitor?

He does sent me copies of doctors reports but thats about it and the folder that he has about my case is very thick!!!

Just curious have i a right to see the file?

thanks very much

You could send an Access Request as per:

For Info, see Exemptions to this case:

Here are the public bodies covered under FOIA:

Your solicitor will almost certainly give you a full copy of the file if you just ask nicely. You are entitled as a client, even if there were no legislation governing the matter.

There is some time and expense in copying the thing - and much of it will be mundane; but do by all means get a copy and slake your thirst for information.

thank you for getting back to me, my solicitor a very nice man so i was going to ask him to see my files and i would photocopy myself if i found something interesting!! and i doubt he would mind at all but just wanted to check first had i a right.

No problem, I was assuming you were having difficulty getting information, but if your solicitor is ok with it, all the handier!
