Garmin asking strange question

When I turn on my Garmin and select 'Address' it asks me
"In What State/Province is the Address?"
No matter what State/Country/Province/town etc I put in, it won't accept it. My (adult) daughter was playing about with it some weeks ago and does not remember if she changed anything. Can anyone help please.......much appreciated.

On the first screeen, where it prompts for :

• Where To?
• View Mao
• Travel Kit

press the spanner icon on the R/H side of the screen, then System, then Restore (bottom R/H side).

That was a factory reset.

Raise aerial on GPS unit, walk outside, switch on, wait for acquiring satellites, press "Where To?", then "Go Home". See where it thinks it is.

Another option instead of "Address" is "Cities" on the same screen.

Also have a look under "Recently Found" to see where (it thinks) its been.

Does this mean you have to tell your GPS device where it is, so that it knows where it is?

What will they think of next?
