Decided to have a look and see what this mystery girl looked like, assumed the Gardai would have a series of decent, professionally taken head shots, instead we get a series of poorish quality CCTV picture grabs.

Those pictures were sent around the world,a good percentage of media both print and television would have picked up on the story and thats the best they can do?

What a wasted opportunity in the ongoing investigation to establish that poor girls identity.

So you know what state the girl is in and is able to pose for some nice professional pictures?

Anyway it seems to have worked.

Ah would you go on out of that, she can't have been that hysterical for the last week or so that they couldn't get a few better pictures than the ones provided to the media, they were nothing but screen grabs off CCTV footage and if it worked it was in spite of the pictures which were pretty ropey.

You are right. A couple of days good sleep and a nice meal and she was probably ready to be paraded in front of cameras. Considering they suspected her of being a victim of trafficking, would you seriously expect the authorities to shove her in front of a camera for a nice picture given what she could potentially have been put through already? Especially since by all accounts she was found in a pretty distraught state.

Pretty emotive use of language there and unnecessary, there was no suggestion of grabbing her and "shoving" & "parading" her in front of some massive intimidating camera the size of a flatbed truck flanked on all sides by hundreds of frowning scowling uniformed gardai with floodlights fit for a football field, she was an unidentified person for the past month it surely is not that difficult to get a few decent clear images that would have been much more useful in identifying her.
The fact that she now has been identified is in spite of those pretty rubbish CCTV screen grabs.

You are right.

Thank you, missed that on the first reading.

No, it is because of those photos. Precisely because of those photos.

She refused to pose for photos. When dealing with a hysterical peson who may have undergone some trauma; forcing them to do anything will exacerbate an already difficult situation and may destroy any trust built up gradually allowing them to communicate properly with the individual.

But as long as they get a good photo to off load her then sure whats the harm eh?

People like you really do amuse me.

There is something about this story that stinks to high heaven. Can't speak English - but from Australia. 14 or 15 but actually circa 20 years old. Managed to find her way to Ireland though from the other side of the world.

Think that was the main objective of over 2000 hours of Garda time, unless you think she should be held indefinitely by the State?
