Asking for a friend.

Friends son is going to court over a rag week brawl he was involved with 14 months ago but not the main instigator( two friends and himself v's drunk boy X who was itching for a fight and got one) Has been deferred 3 times already and still no medical report on boy X who made the complaint over his injuries. None of the parties behaved well but my question is:

legal aid solicitor is representing the 3 boys and has not spoken to friend or friends son, friend gets the odd email saying yeah yeah will look into it etc. She had to push for solc to request book of evidence and eventually when it was, CCTV footage was not given over and still no medical report, all she has are statements. There is definitely CCTV as the Guards showed each of the boys the footage which isn't the clearest of who was the instigator or even what happened, all three said 'not guilty'.

Also it looks like friends son is being fingered as the main instigator but it is certainly not the case and he is adamant about getting CCTV to show that he wasn't.

It could be heading to district court but with all the deferrals, solc dragging his feet and no communication, it is having an extremely damaging affect to the boys mental health.

Does it have to be the solicitor that requests CCTV or can the parent or adult child do it for themselves? If they go out on their own with another solicitor the friend is afraid that the other twos solicitor will turn all blame onto her son but all the same it looks like the Guards are doing that anyway. How much of solo investigating can a parent realistically do when solc is not communicating?

Is this ok for this forum?

Naturally enough its going to cause him some stress and anxiety. It would be strange if it didnt. But it sounds like he assaulted someone causing them injury so will have to face consequences. Ya cant be doing that.

OP. You reference your friend "pushing" the Solicitor to get the book of evidence.

A book of evidence has to be formally served on an accused, in the District Court, before the matter at hand is forwarded to the Circuit Court for listing there.

What offence (s) is your friend's son charged with?
