free CRM software for sales

I am starting to build a database of potential clients on Excel and, hopefully, some of them will translate into customers in the near future! I wonder if Excel is the optimal software I should use for such a database or if there is anything free (or nearly free) which I should start out on.

Hi Olivia, try Zoho. Seems quiet good.
I have tried various CRM's and this is a good one where you can integrrate your email, docs, tasks, contacts etc.

If you want a real database, you could download something like XAMMP. It is free software and is a database that you can use to interact, update and insert records using MySQL. You could also use Microsoft Access ! It really depends what you want to do with the information in the future and how you want to update and maintain it.
