Foreign Pension Transfer to PRSA

Has anyone managed to transfer a foreign plan into an Irish PRSA. I have a Canadian RRSP and wish to transfer this to a PRSA. Standard Life indicated it may be possible but the matter fell apart as neither Standard Life or the Canadian provider would do the required currency exchange. Standard Life would only accept Euros and the Canadian provider would only send Can$.
I also tried Davy but they would not accept any such foreign transfers whatsoever.
I would appreciate any insight into how this may be possible or is it just an impossibility.
 
I've heard stories of people being disappointed with the fx rates that pension providers have been given by their banks when foreign pensions are being transferred. Perhaps they're reluctant to leave themselves open to complaints?
