Walking around Drumcondra yesterday and I couldn't help but notice that alot of the old brick houses look well with this purple flowering outside them similar to the attached. It seems to grow in any nook and cranny too.

Can anyone advise what the name of this type of planting is and how can it be planted etc.

It looks like it could be aubretia. We have some in a border and it comes alive at this time of year but ours is more of a bluey purple. I was thinking of dividing it and putting it out the front wall to see if it would root.

We tried putting the Aubretia in a few nooks and crannies in our wall but it didn't take. Must try again because it does look lovely.

Sounds like Campanula to me. Grows in beds & borders, but also in cracks on walls, steps, anywhere really!

I have campanula in my garden, it is unstoppable! I've just been ripping it out in spots as it's overpowering lesser plants. It seems to flower for a long time, too.
