Flexible repayment mortgage

Does anyone know if there's a mortgage product out there that's suitable for someone with a "lumpy" income stream i.e a mortgage where the odd missed payment doesn't attract a penalty, and where a double payment can be made on a good month.

Otherwise I guess the same effect could be achieved by paying the mortgage from a dedicated current account with a float of a couple of months repayments in it.

Afaik, if you have a variable rate mortgage then you should be able to make additional payment into it whenever you want. Thats what AIB told me about my tracker mortgage I have with them anyway.

As for not being penalised for missing payments - sorry but can't see that ever being an option for any of the lenders.

What do people like actors, musicians etc do? Who lends to them and how do they manage repayments?
