first time buyer?

I did post this question before but no conclusive answers. So here goes again. My wife purchased our current property which is still in his name before our marraige. We are now moving. Can we purchase as first time buyers if the new mortgage and / or house is in my name. Also then can I put my wifes name on deeds a few years down the line?

The first reply in the other thread is from a solicitor-and appears conclusive enough to me-there are also many existing threads that address this issue.
