I am looking to start a pension I am 36 the wife is 38.
I have used property as my investments over the last 10 years so have had no spare cash to pay into a pension.
We have 2 life insurance policies each, and 2 kids under 6, no more planned.
I work for myself with my wife.

I am now looking to start a pension.I honestly don't know and don't know anything about pensions...
I did pay into one years ago when I was 22 and all it did was lose money in a falling market, so gave up.

The obvious is to go to the bank.. See the advisor but I would never have a pension with and irish bank.. I don't really even trust some of the big players.

What can I do, can you manage the pension fund yourself? Who do people recommend..

I could start a company pension scheme..

I intend to start by putting up to €1000 a month away.
In two years a loan payment will end of 640 a month, which I will add to it.

My wife will needs a pension too (I should set something up for her as she wont do it)? This would have to come out of the above funds.
Although haply marred i'm not daft enough to think things may change one day and want to take this into account

Would like to retire at about 60, I intend to own my own home in full, and own 1 rental property by then.
I cannot see myself having any savings to speak of so a lump sum at 60 would be good to have.
