Ex wants my name off the mortgage

Hi,
Can anyone help please? I am currently getting divorced, as part of the Financial Consent Order my ex is buying me out of the house.
This is to take effect in Sept 2015 when our youngest finishes college.
My ex has now said he would like my name to be taken off the mortgage, and would "like to get the ball rolling now".
If I agree to this does my name also come off the deeds? He says not. I don't want to agree to anything that will put my sons future security at risk.
I'm afraid that if I agree to this I have no claim over the equity.
 
This is an Irish website. You appear to be in the UK, where the law and practice are likely to be very different.
