Entrance walls... Planning query

Hi Everyone,

We are currently looking at repair/reinstating the front entrance walls of our house. A car crashed into one of them and damaged them to the extent that they need to be rebuilt. The existing walls are about 4O" in height. We are considering rebuilding them perhaps 12" higher.
We are on a private site/public road.
Does anyone know offhand if we would need planning permission to make the height change?
We possibly will change them to granite also from pebble dashing.

To go the full 12" higher, you will need planning. You are limited to 1.2m to the front or side of a property. See Citizen's Information guide here, or the legislation here.

Altering the width from that granted in the original planning will also need to be approved.
