Hi folks,

My shower is fed from the cold water tank in the attic and last week a new ballcock in the tank was faulty and I was left with an empty tank till following day.

If it had been fed from the mains supply pipe in the attic (if it was a mains fed type of unit) I would have been able to shower obviously.

My question is this...for continuity of supply during repairs/breakdowns etc
which is more beneficial.

Mains fed Shower or Tank fed Shower?

Keep it on the tank. Reason being if you have a pressure drop(someone runs the cold tap), you will be screaming in the shower.

Keep it connected to the tank, all round more reliable than depending on mains fluctuating pressure and/or temporary interruption to service.

The prolonged rolling mains outages during the cold spell earlier in the year was enough to convince me that the tank is the way to go.
