Does anybody know what happens if EBS is nationalised...how do you get your money out ...is it frozen?....are the depositors in Anglo Irish able to withdraw money on deposit or is it frozen? Thks.

Nationalisation has no effect on the day to day business of a bank. The EBS is more likely to be taken over by another bank in any case.

thks for your replies folks...but this now leads to the question 'If the EBS is taken over or merged or nationalised does this mean that any amount due(COMPENSATION) to shareholders in EBS in respect of this forced demualisation is lost' Will the shareholders get a payout or will they lose out again to the vulture mentality of the bankers who will ride off into the sunset with the swag slung ...over their shoulders laughing heartily as usual....sorry to sound so cynical but recent events have made me doubthfull and questioning where bankers are concerned

How much is ownership of the EBS worth? Perhaps it is worth something, but maybe not, so compensation would be little. Irish Nationwide isn't worth anything.
