Draft for mother

My mother recently received a draft as part of a payout for some policy.

My mother is very old and infirmed and not capable of going out. I am a lone child and look after my mother. Is it possible to have a draft lodged to my account eg. could she sign the back of the draft thereby allowing me to lodge this as she is in my care.

Hmmmm.....

Not sure if this is legal if it is not being lodged to her account?

If you were to lodge it to her account and have her sign a withdrawal slip/ transfer, it may be a little easier than her endorsing the draft.

If she has a bank account there's no reason why the money can't be lodged in her account.

If the draft is crossed "a/c payee only" or something similar (I can't remember whether drafts are normally crossed like cheques...?) then you are strictly not allowed lodge it to any account other than the payee's even if it is endorsed. While banks sometimes allow this they strictly should not and the last time that I tried this the bank (rightly) refused.
