Disposing of polystyrene

Apologies if there is a previous thread on this - I can find one.

How do I properly dispose of this stuff? Recycling centres in Ringsend/Grangegorman refuse to take it (even if I offer to pay for it as part of household rubbish) and I cant put it out with my bins. I have quite a bit from various applicances bought over the years.

A lot of amenity centres take these, they sort it into a seperate clear bad labelled for polystyrene. I've never had any trouble with it, Google for your local one.

my local center takes it, so if you look around you will probably fine one. Some one has to be taking it or it would be taking over peoples houses!

See the results from below.

My problem is that I've taken about 6 cubic metres of the stuff from our attic. The recycling centres will turn me away if I turn up in a van. Any ideas how best to dispose of it? It will compress down to nothing if I can get it recycled properly.

Do you know any local manufacturers/suppliers? Some of them might be glad to take polystyrene off you to use as packaging. We certainly would.

petrol would have sorted you out in a second.
It would have dissolved all of it with a cup fill.
